It was with much dismay and unhappiness that I saw Barry Bonds swat his 756th dinger tonight. That blast officially puts Bonds at the top of the career home run list. See? There's no question about it, there is no God. I am pretty sure if there were a God, He would have made sure Bonds took a fastball right in the ear. Not enough to cause permanent damage or disability, because God wouldn't be so cruel, but enough to force Bonds out of the game he's tainted, damaged and discredited. And if there were a God, He would have made sure it happened on dinger #754, leaving Hank Aaron as the undisputed Home Run King. So atheists around the world, congratulations, you all were right all along.

Barry Bonds, in my eyes and in the eyes of millions, is not now and will never be the legitimate Home Run King. As far as I'm concerned, Bonds is a cheater. Yes, he is an amazing pure hitter. He's got amazing hand-eye coordination and his ability as a hitter is second to none. But I very much believe that Barry Bonds is a cheater. I believe that he's juiced up and has for a long time. I believe his MLB record 73 home run season is as illegitimate as his career total. I believe that he lied to Congress and that those sitting in jail are sitting there to protect him. I very much believe that Barry Bonds habitually used steroids and I believe the evidence to support that will eventually come out.

Simply because of the cloud of suspicion hanging around Barry Bonds, I will never acknowledge him as the Home Run King. To me, Hammerin' Hank Aaron will remain the career home run leader until somebody legitimately passes him. I don't think Bonds should have his name attached to one of the most hallowed records in baseball, nor do I think he should get a free ticket to Cooperstown. Bonds is a cheater and as far as I'm concerned, there will always be an asterisk next to his name.
